OUR COMMUNITY We are a group of women in this congregation focused on building community, affirming women's calls to leadership and spiritual growth, and sharing concerns regarding our community, denomination, and world. We elect our own leadership and representation on various church councils; we determine our own budget and programming; and we support the mission work of this church and the PC(USA).
Throughout the year, we host semi-monthly meetings for worship, Bible study, fellowship, and encouragement; EVERYONE is welcome! Meetings are held in Memorial Hall (unless otherwise announced) on the 2nd and 4th Thursdays at 2 pm, September through May. The first Thursday is a Bible Study and lesson. The second Thursday we bring in interesting speakers to learn about what is happening in our community, and how to support a variety of local missions.
Additionally, we prepare and serve funeral dinners, special dinners or receptions, occasionally provide treats of food for children’s programs or Vacation Bible School, sew for kid's quilts for local law enforcement to give to children in crisis situations and we knit prayer shawls and caps for those in need. We consider these acts of service very vital in the life of our Christian community and a service to God.
OUR PURPOSE Everything we do as an organization and as a community is guided by the national PW Purpose, and that includes ministry, resources and relationships. Forgiven and freed by God in Jesus Christ, and empowered by the Holy Spirit, we commit ourselves:
to nurture our faith through prayer and Bible study,
to support the mission of the church worldwide,
to work for justice and peace, and
to build an inclusive, caring community of women that strengthens the PC(USA) and witnesses to the promise of God’s kingdom.
There are many faithful ways to live out the PW Purpose, as the gifts of the Spirit allow us live out our Call in our own, unique ways!
